Slightly underrated Hitchcock experiment. The very long takes (the whole film is essentially uninterrupted) heighten the suspense and the movie's stars are well-cast. Fun.

What is Rope about? Toggle content

Rope is a psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on the true story of the Leopold and Loeb case. The film follows two intellectually superior young men, Brandon Shaw and Phillip Morgan, who strangle their former classmate David Kentley and hide his body in a trunk. They then invite their victim's family and friends over for a dinner party, serving food from the same trunk that conceals the corpse. As they engage in conversation about the "perfect murder," their former teacher Rupert Cadell becomes increasingly suspicious of their involvement in David's disappearance. The tension builds as Cadell's investigation uncovers inconsistencies in their alibis and reveals shocking truths about their motivations. Will they get away with the perfect crime, or will Cadell uncover their dark secret?
