Point of No Return

Point of No Return follows the story of Maggie Hayward (played by Bridget Fonda), a drug addict and convicted murderer who is sentenced to death. However, her execution is faked, and she is recruited by a secret government agency to work as a professional killer. Maggie undergoes extensive training in martial arts, firearms, and etiquette to become a sophisticated assassin. Her first assignment is to kill a VIP and his bodyguard, which she completes successfully. She then enters into a romantic relationship with J.P., an apartment house manager, while continuing to work for the agency. As she becomes increasingly disillusioned with her work, Maggie asks to leave the agency but is denied. She is then assigned to masquerade as Angela, the girlfriend of an Iranian business magnate trading in nuclear weapons. The mission proves problematic, and Maggie's partner, Beth, is injured and later killed by Victor, a "cleaner" sent by the agency's director. Maggie manages to complete the mission, but at a high personal cost. The film raises questions about morality and the ethics of using assassins for government purposes. It also explores themes of identity, intimacy, and the consequences of life choices.
