Child 44 is a crime thriller movie set in the early 1950s Soviet Union, during the rule of Joseph Stalin. The story follows Leo Demidov, a war hero and agent of the Ministry of State Security (MGB), who is tasked with investigating a series of brutal child murders. However, the MGB leadership refuses to acknowledge the deaths as murders, citing Soviet doctrine that only capitalism creates serial killers. When Leo's own son is murdered by the killer, he becomes determined to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrator to justice.
